This easy peach milkshake has just 4 ingredients and can be made any time of year using frozen peaches. A copycat Chick-Fil-A peach milkshake with better ingredients, you can feel great about serving these to the whole family.

Good-quality vanilla ice cream, vanilla extract, peaches, and milk combine for the best peach milkshake on a hot summer day. While the Chick-Fil-A peach milkshake is only served June through August, with this recipe you can make them all year!

Pairs wonderfully with a BBQ meal like my Green Goddess Grilled Chicken Thighs or Honey Chipotle Chicken Sandwich. And if you have extra peaches, don’t miss this Peach Mocktail!

Copycat Chick-Fil-A Peach Milkshakes

My biggest pregnancy craving with my son was Chick-Fil-A, but my migraine brain doesn’t always love their ingredients. I actually craved it so much, I used to feel like an attack was worth it (crazy)! When it wasn’t worth the risk, I found a way to still enjoy some of the foods like my homemade Chick-Fil-A sauce and chicken nuggets. This homemade peach milkshake is one of those recipes! You’ll love that it has:

  • Better ingredients – No corn syrup, carrageenan, natural flavors or sulfites like the one you’d get at the restaurant.
  • Easy – All this peach milkshake requires is one blender!
  • Under 5 minutes – This summer dessert recipe can be made very quickly.
  • Special diet friendly – Fits a migraine elimination diet, gluten free, dairy free, and low sodium.
  • Frozen peaches – Although summer has the best fresh peaches, it’s such a short season. You can make these peach milkshakes any time of the year!

Ingredients

Ingredients for peach milkshakes on a white background.
  • Frozen peaches – Frozen fruit is frozen at its peak, which means you can find it to be more consistent in flavor than fresh, and this recipe can also be made off-season. If you’re making these during summer, you can also use fresh, but will need to freeze them before making if you want the same thickness.
  • Vanilla Ice Cream – Haagen Dazs is my favorite vanilla ice cream, but any good quality brand will work. Look for one without carrageenan, which gives a more slimy texture instead of thick and creamy. The more simple the ingredients, the better. For dairy free, I like Cosmic Bliss.
  • Vanilla – I find a little vanilla extract boosts the flavor to make it more like a copycat Chick-Fil-A peach milkshake.
  • Milk – Whole milk will give you the creamiest texture, but any favorite milk will work.

How to Make a Peach Milkshake

4 step process of making a peach milkshake in a blender.
  1. Add ingredients – Add peaches, vanilla and milk to the blender. Do not add the ice cream yet.
  2. Blend – Blend the peaches and milk together till mostly smooth.
  3. Add the ice cream – Use a scoop to add the ice cream to the blender of mixed peaches and milk.
  4. Blend again – Blend the ice cream into the peach mixture till smooth. Be careful to not over-blend so it still stays really thick and creamy.

Tips and Substitutions

  • Don’t blend too much – Keep the milkshake thick and creamy by blending the frozen peaches separately with the milk, then blending that into the ice cream. Adding everything at once could require more blending time and therefore a thinner milkshake.
  • Peaches – Any frozen fruit could be substituted in the same amounts for a fruit-based milkshake! Peaches, blueberries, cherries would all make great ones.
  • Fresh peaches – Using fresh peaches will change the consistency so the milkshake is thinner. If you don’t mind – go for it! You will probably need to peel off the skin for best results. You could also freeze the fresh peaches if you want a thicker milkshake.

Toppings

Cream and peaches swirled through a milkshake, on a beige plate with fresh peaches around it.

I think this peach milkshake is delicious on it’s own! But if you want to spruce them up, you can add the following toppings.

  • Whipped cream – swirl it throughout to make them pretty!
  • Fresh peaches
  • A cherry
  • Crumbled graham crackers
  • Cinnamon – A tiny pinch will go a long way! Nutmeg would be good too.
  • Shortbread cookies

You could mix in crumbled graham crackers or shortbread cookies for an extra crunch. Even Biscoff cookies would be delicious!

Serving Suggestions

Peach milkshakes feel like summer so I love to pair them with warm-weather meals, especially BBQ! Here are some other great recipes to pair it with.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh peaches?

Yes, but it will change the texture. Either peel the peaches and freeze them the day before you plan to make, or decrease the amount of milk by at least half. If you love a chunky milkshake, stir in some chopped fresh peaches at the end.

How do you make this dairy free?

My favorite dairy free ice cream will always be cosmic bliss. It’s the best tasting and texture. Combine that with coconut milk (for a stronger coconut flavor), flax milk or oat milk (for the best taste).

How do you keep blood sugar stable with a milkshake?

Making your desserts at home leaves you in control over the ingredients, which can help a lot. I always pair milkshakes with a full meal. You could even add a little protein powder to it!

Equipment

  • 1 High speed blender

Ingredients

  • 8 oz frozen peaches (1 heaping cup)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream, good quality and packed as much as you can
  • 1 fresh peach, chopped, and whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • Combine the frozen peaches, milk and vanilla in a high-speed blender, and blend enough to chop up the peaches till smooth. Add in ice cream and blend again just till smooth, using a blender tamper as needed – it should be really thick!
  • Top with whipped cream and fresh peaches for serving. Or make a swirl by stirring in the whipped cream throughout.

Notes

  • Fresh peaches can be subbed for frozen, but you will need to decrease the milk to around 1/4-1/2 cup. Frozen peaches make the smoothie really thick!
  • I prefer to use alcohol-free vanilla extract in smoothies and milkshakes.
  • Ice cream recommendations – Use a good quality (without carrageenan) for the best texture. These should be simple ingredients – Haagen Dazs is a good brand!
  • Dairy free – Use cosmic bliss vanilla ice cream. I recommend coconut milk (tropical flavor) or oat milk for the best flavor and texture.
  • Pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg in this would be amazing!

This is such a fun recipe! I grew up near a dairy that made their own peach ice cream each summer. I have missed that peach ice cream until now. Thanks for a walk down memory lane with this refreshing milkshake (with ice cream) which in New England is called a frappe!!! Yum!

I noticed that you mentioned whipped cream. did you make your own or is it store bought? do you have a favorite name brand?

    1. Alicia says:

Hey! This is homemade. I always prefer homemade so I just make it quickly myself if I’m going to use it. 🙂 I don’t have any suggestions for store-bought – sorry!
