Why You'll Love Boursin Pasta
- Just 5 ingredients in the whole dish.
- This Boursin pasta takes less than 30 minutes to make and is more delicious than the famous tiktok version.
- You can customize the pasta to whatever you want, adding shrimp, chicken, or extra vegetables.
- It's like alfredo sauce without parmesan (good for a low tyramine diet).
- Makes a great cozy dinner the whole family will love.
- Boursin cheese is so easy to find.
Ingredients
When I say 5 ingredients, I mean 5 ingredients. Well, salt and pepper are gimme's ok?
- Boursin Cheese - The star of the show. This cheese is like a fluffy, flavored cream cheese that melts beautifully. I like the Garlic and Fine Herbs Boursin, but the Shallot and Chive would work here as well depending on what flavors you love most.
- Pasta - Any pasta will work but I chose fettuccine to try to create my favorite fettuccine alfredo without parmesan cheese. Start with a really good pasta, like all semolina flour, or ones that you can find freshly made. This isn’t totally necessary, but it does elevate the dish. Obviously if gluten is an issue for you, you can use your favorite gluten free pasta.
- Heavy Cream - This just makes the recipe extra creamy and decadent, plus helps coat the noodles in a thick sauce. I used Organic Valley.
- Garlic - Yes, the cheese already has a garlic flavor to it, but this just amplifies it. It gives you enough without being overpowering.
- Butter - A great start to a creamy pasta, I like to use Kerrygold.
Parsley is purely decorative here, but feel free to add any herbs you like! I find Boursin usually packs enough flavor that you don't need it.
Step by Step Instructions
Just a few easy steps and you've conquered this Boursin pasta!
- Start by boiling salted water in a big pot. Cook the pasta while you begin the sauce.
- Melt butter in a large saucepan that will be big enough to toss the pasta in. Stir in minced garlic and cook over medium heat till fragrant (but not brown).
- Add the heavy cream and stir, bringing the sauce to a simmer over medium high heat, about 5-7 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and stir in the Boursin cheese till fully melted. Add in the cooked pasta and toss it in the sauce. Salt and pepper to taste!
- If you like your sauce to be more thin, save some pasta water to add it to the sauce, about 1-2 tablespoons at a time, till your desired consistency is reached.
Recipe Tips
- Boursin cheese melts really well, but you want to make sure you don't do it over too high of heat. Using too high heat can cause milk products to curdle. This low and slow method allows the sauce to get nice and creamy.
- The creamy sauce doesn't look like a lot in amount but it coats the noodles well. I encourage you to taste it before adding extra liquids. However you can add extra pasta water to thin out the sauce.
- For gluten free, use gluten free pasta. It's that easy!
- For dairy free Boursin Pasta, use the dairy free Boursin, typically found at Trader Joe's. I'd recommend using Earth Balance Pressed Oil substitute for the butter, and Oatly or a really creamy milk substitute for the cream.
- Sometimes I get asked for a lower calorie option. I've tried this recipe, substituting the heavy cream for vegetable broth. It's not quite as creamy and decadent, but it's still good.
What To Add to Pasta with Boursin Cheese
You can customize this creamy pasta recipe to make it into a great side dish, or as a main course. Below are a few ideas.
- Add precooked shrimp or chicken for extra protein.
- Mix in sun-dried tomatoes, broccoli, cooked mushrooms, or spinach and kale.
- Use macaroni instead of fettuccine for a grown up take on mac and cheese.
- For a fun Christmas pasta, use tomatoes and spinach for red and green!
- Looking for something lower carb or keto-friendly? Try this sauce with roasted cauliflower - so good!
How to Store and Reheat
Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, place in a large skillet and reheat over medium low, adding in a little extra water or heavy cream to help coat the noodles again.

Creamy Boursin Pasta
Ingredients
- 8 oz fettuccine pasta
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ¾ cup heavy cream
- 4 ounces Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs Cheese
- kosher salt and fresh pepper to taste
- fresh Italian parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package directions and drain. Keep about a cup of pasta water just in case you need to thin out the sauce later. Meanwhile melt butter in a large saucepan and cook the garlic for a minute or two until fragrant, but not brown. Add heavy cream and bring the sauce to a simmer, about 5-7 minutes, until nice and thick. The spoon should leave a line/trail as you run it through the sauce.
- Turn the heat to low and add Boursin cheese, stirring until melted and fully incorporated. Taste the sauce and add any kosher salt or fresh black pepper as needed. Add drained pasta and toss everything to combine. Top with parsley for garnish

Notes
- Use your favorite gluten free pasta to make this GF friendly.
- Add in cooked vegetables, chicken or shrimp for a full meal!
- If the sauce is too thick, add 2 tablespoons of pasta water after adding the Boursin cheese until desired consistency is reached.
- I used Kerrygold unsalted butter and Organic Valley Heavy Cream. See post for more variations!

this recipe is a regular in our house. it's simple and delicious. perfect for a busy day. I usually make it with a smaller pasta bc spaghetti or fettuccine and little kids is not fun to clean up. we all love it!

This is one of my go to recipes during a busy week! The Boursin pasta is so easy to make with only 5 ingredients. Because of this recipe I now always make sure I get heavy cream at the grocery store so I can make it on a whim. I get the Boursin cheese at Costco in a bundle of 3 so I always have it on hand too! Delish!

Something triggered my VM this week. Not as bad as the frist five months of this year but I was definitely off. I decided to make this for dinner last night. I add grilled chicken and roasted broccoli to the dish. It was so delicious and easy. Did not miss the parm at all. Today I am feeling better and am being more careful what I eat. You have been such a blessing to me during this journey.

Just finished licking the plate clean!! I cut up some spinach from my garden into the sauce. The stems added a nice crunch. This is the best Alfredo sauce I’ve ever had. And it took me less than 30 mins!! Would be perfect for having guests over and entertaining.
