- Just 5 ingredients in the whole dish.
- This Boursin pasta takes less than 30 minutes to make and is more delicious than the famous tiktok version.
- You can customize the pasta to whatever you want, adding shrimp, chicken, or extra vegetables.
- It's like alfredo sauce without parmesan (good for a low tyramine diet).

Ingredients
When I say 5 ingredients, I mean 5 ingredients. Well, salt and pepper are gimme's ok?

- Boursin Cheese - The star of the show. This cheese is like a fluffy, flavored cream cheese that melts beautifully. I like the Garlic and Fine Herbs Boursin, but the Shallot and Chive would work here as well depending on what flavors you love most.
- Pasta - Any pasta will work but I chose fettuccine to try to create my favorite fettuccine alfredo without parmesan cheese. Start with a really good pasta, like all semolina flour, or ones that you can find freshly made. This isn’t totally necessary, but it does elevate the dish. Obviously if gluten is an issue for you, you can use your favorite gluten free pasta.
- Heavy Cream - This just makes the recipe extra creamy and decadent, plus helps coat the noodles in a thick sauce. I used Organic Valley.
- Garlic - Yes, the cheese already has a garlic flavor to it, but this just amplifies it. It gives you enough without being overpowering.
- Butter - A great start to a creamy pasta, I like to use Kerrygold.
Parsley is purely decorative here, but feel free to add any herbs you like! I find Boursin usually packs enough flavor that you don't need it.
Step by Step Instructions

Just a few easy steps and you've conquered this Boursin pasta!
- Start by boiling salted water in a big pot. Cook the pasta while you begin the sauce.
- Melt butter in a large saucepan that will be big enough to toss the pasta in. Stir in minced garlic and cook over medium heat till fragrant (but not brown).
- Add the heavy cream and stir, bringing the sauce to a simmer over medium high heat, about 5-7 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and stir in the Boursin cheese till fully melted. Add in the cooked pasta and toss it in the sauce. Salt and pepper to taste!
- If you like your sauce to be more thin, save some pasta water to add it to the sauce, about 1-2 tablespoons at a time, till your desired consistency is reached.

Recipe Tips
- Boursin cheese melts really well, but you want to make sure you don't do it over too high of heat. Using too high heat can cause milk products to curdle. This low and slow method allows the sauce to get nice and creamy.
- The creamy sauce doesn't look like a lot in amount but it coats the noodles well. I encourage you to taste it before adding extra liquids. However you can add extra pasta water to thin out the sauce.
- For gluten free, use gluten free pasta. It's that easy!
- For dairy free Boursin Pasta, use the dairy free Boursin, typically found at Trader Joe's. I'd recommend using Earth Balance Pressed Oil substitute for the butter, and Oatly or a really creamy milk substitute for the cream.
- Sometimes I get asked for a lower calorie option. I've tried this recipe, substituting the heavy cream for vegetable broth. It's not quite as creamy and decadent, but it's still good.
What To Add to Pasta with Boursin Cheese
You can customize this creamy pasta recipe to make it into a great side dish, or as a main course. Below are a few ideas.
- Add precooked shrimp or chicken for extra protein.
- Mix in sun-dried tomatoes, broccoli, cooked mushrooms, or spinach and kale.
- Use macaroni instead of fettuccine for a grown up take on mac and cheese.
- For a fun Christmas pasta, use tomatoes and spinach for red and green!
- Looking for something lower carb or keto-friendly? Try this sauce with roasted cauliflower - so good!
How to Store and Reheat
Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, place in a large skillet and reheat over medium low, adding in a little extra water or heavy cream to help coat the noodles again.

Creamy Boursin Pasta
Ingredients
- 8 oz fettuccine pasta
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ¾ cup heavy cream
- 4 ounces Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs Cheese
- kosher salt and fresh pepper to taste
- fresh Italian parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package directions and drain. Keep about a cup of pasta water just in case you need to thin out the sauce later. Meanwhile melt butter in a large saucepan and cook the garlic for a minute or two until fragrant, but not brown. Add heavy cream and bring the sauce to a simmer, about 5-7 minutes, until nice and thick. The spoon should leave a line/trail as you run it through the sauce.
- Turn the heat to low and add Boursin cheese, stirring until melted and fully incorporated. Taste the sauce and add any kosher salt or fresh black pepper as needed. Add drained pasta and toss everything to combine. Top with parsley for garnish

Notes
- Use your favorite gluten free pasta to make this GF friendly.
- Add in cooked vegetables, chicken or shrimp for a full meal!
- If the sauce is too thick, add 2 tablespoons of pasta water after adding the Boursin cheese until desired consistency is reached.
- I used Kerrygold unsalted butter and Organic Valley Heavy Cream. See post for more variations!

This was so quick and easy. Can't wait to try other flavours of Boursin. We had the shallot and chive but I think the garlic or basil one would be awesome.
This was the EASIEST weeknight pasta I've made. It was creamy and soooo flavorful. I will definitely make it again and again. Thank you!
Thank you, Tania! So happy you got to try this one!
Love this recipe! It’s easy to make. You can add things like shrimp, chicken, mushrooms, veggies, etc. to it. Or enjoy it as Alicia has it noted. It makes a great side dish or main meal dish & usually leaves leftovers. So delicious! If you’re a pasta lover, this is a go to recipe.
Really, really good! Really, really easy! Good for Meniere's folks as well. It's reasonable on the sodium--at least for my needs.
Thank you, Vicky! Those soft cheeses are so good for Meniere's and migraine people! This would work with cream cheese or goat cheese too, it's just a little less flavorful. The Boursin spices really make this one easy.
Excellent! I used only 1 clove of garlic. Added in a handful of of fresh dill and thyme. Used Boursin Shallot and Chive.
One of my favorites and just so easy. We usually add some cooked shrimp to it and sometimes also broccoli. It’s versatile enough that it’s great as-is or with any added protein and/or veggies.
Thank you Alicia, this was so good! The sauce took hardly any time to make and was very flavorful. Will definitely be making again!
Thank you so much Amanda!! I'm so glad you tried it!!
Definitely a 5 star recipe! Makes me not miss fettuccine Alfredo at all!
Omg this is so delicious! When I saw that the pasta sauce is made with boursin I knew I have to try it...and it didn't disappoint! That sauce is creamy and flavorful. I added one more clove of garlic because I love garlic. Thank you for the amazing recipe!
Hello, your recipes are amazing but I’m finding that some of your ingredients are including msg, I’ve tried to find alternatives but it’s hard for example Panko, heavy cream, whole milk to name a few all have some form of msg and it’s hard to find an alternative. I’ve found rice milk to replace regular milk because of the carrageenan but some other ingredients are nearly impossible to replace. What do you’ suggest? Thanks!!
-Kari
Hi Kari - You can get lots of brands of whole milk without additives, like carrageenan. Organic valley, maple hill are two brands I like but there are many more. It is not hard to find. Heavy cream and panko I give suggestions for brands on my pantry staples post. I also gave brand suggestions within this post. If you have my cookbook, it teaches you how to shop and read labels. Perhaps maybe you're confusing some names that are ok for msg?
I was a little skeptical at first when I tasted the Boursin cheese alone. But OMG the finished product was delicious! A prefect bowl of creamy comfort pasta. Not Exactly Alfredo sauce but very close and excellent in its own regard.
Thanks!!!!
Wow, this recipe is truly amazing! I never take the time to write a review...but this time, I had too. My daughter loves loves Alfredo Fettuccine. She says that now she only wants to eat this sauce! Everyone really loved it and it is really easy to do! Thank you so much!
Make this dish often. I use a teaspoon of arrowroot mixed with oat milk (makes it equivalent to heavy cream) but you don’t need to simmer it so much, I just simmer for a few minutes add herbed goat cheese and the sauce is nice and creamy. So yummy!
Thanks for sharing your edits Susan!
This dish is pure comfort food! It is smooth and delicious. Having said that, I have a problem with the amount of fat in this recipe. When I first saw this recipe, someone replied with an inquiry about a lower fat version. Also, my experience with my husband is I have a better chance of getting him to eat something new when I add some “meat”. We have added thawed, previously cooked, seafood, both langostinos and shrimp. I don’t know if these would be okay for everyone to eat, but the sauce pairs so beautifully with these choices. I hope to find the “lighter fat” version again.
Hey Lorrie - I have cut the fat before by using vegetable broth instead of the heavy cream. It's definitely not as good as the original recipe, but nothing low fat ever is. Hope that helps!
This one is so delicious, and extremely versatile!! You can eat it plain as shown (which is fabulous), or mix in any variety of protein and/or veggies to customize!! So decadent and yummy! Definitely a comfort food, and great if you're missing traditional cheesy pasta like Alfredo!
